IN BASIC TOOLS TO START

Most people think silversmithing is out of reach. It isn't.

The most common thing beginners say is: "I wouldn't even know where to start." They picture expensive equipment, years of practice, professional training before making anything real.

Jorge started the same way everyone does — at a bench, with basic tools, making mistakes, learning what the material does. You need around $50–$80 in basic tools and the patience to follow along. That's it.

Look at what students actually produce in this course. These are not professional jewelers. These are beginners who followed each step.

This is what you will make

4 real projects. Each one builds a skill you use in the next

Stone Ring

Set a real stone in sterling silver for the first time. Learn bezel construction, soldering, and how to seat a stone cleanly.

Stone Pendant

Apply your stone-setting skills to a pendant. Work on proportion, a decorative wire cap, and a professional finish.

Wire Earrings with Stone

Learn to work silver wire — shaping, forming, connecting, finishing. The foundational skill everything else builds on.

Chain Link

You build a silver chain from scratch — link by link, by hand. Once you know how to make it, you can use it for a bracelet, a necklace, or to hang a pendant. The foundation of so much jewelry, and most people never learn to make it properly.

Amber Earrings

Wire technique from Project 1 meets stone setting from Projects 2 and 3. Everything you've learned comes together in one finished piece.

This is not a generic silversmithing course

San Cristóbal de las Casas has been the center of silver and stone craft in Mexico for centuries. Jorge learned here. He has been working at a bench in this city for 40 years — not watching videos, not following tutorials, but working with real silver and real stones the way it has always been done in this part of the world.

"The material teaches you if you pay attention. Silver tells you when it's ready. Stone tells you where it wants to sit. Jorge's job — and this course — is to help you listen."

This course teaches you the same foundations Jorge teaches in his San Cristóbal workshop. You will work with real sterling silver. You will learn how to handle, set, and finish stones. And by the end you will have made four pieces of jewelry with your own hands — pieces that carry real craft behind them.

No prior experience required. If you can follow instructions and have patience, you can do this.

Is this course for you?

THIS IS FOR YOU IF:

  • You've always wanted to make jewelry by hand

  • You're a complete beginner with no tools yet

  • You want to learn from a real craftsman, not a hobbyist

  • You want to eventually sell your work

  • You prefer learning at your own pace

THIS IS NOT FOR YOU IF:

  • You want advanced or intermediate techniques

  • You're already an experienced silversmith

  • You want CAD, casting, or goldsmithing

  • You want a business course, not a craft course

Meet Jorge

Jorge learned silversmithing in San Cristóbal de las Casas — the city that has produced Mexico's finest stone and silver jewelry for centuries. He did not learn from a video. He learned at a bench, from craftsmen who learned the same way.

For 40 years he has been working silver and stone by hand. Every piece he makes carries that knowledge. He teaches this course the same way he works: slowly, clearly, without shortcuts. Because there are no shortcuts in real craft.

What a student says

"I had never touched silver in my life. By the end of Project 2 I had made a ring I actually wear every day. Jorge explains every step like he has infinite patience — because he does. This is the real thing."

Common questions

Do I need any experience?

None at all. This course starts from the very beginning — what tools you need, how to hold them, how silver behaves. If you have patient hands and can follow instructions, you can do this.

What tools and materials do I need?

A full tools and materials list is included with the course. You can get started with a basic beginner kit for around $50–$80. You do not need expensive equipment to complete the 4 projects.

What language is the course in?

The course is taught entirely in English. Jorge demonstrates every technique visually and clearly — you will always be able to follow exactly what he is doing.

Where do I get the stones for the projects?

Stones are not included in the course — you source them yourself. The materials list tells you exactly what to get. That said, Jorge supplies genuine Chiapas amber and other stones directly from San Cristóbal to enrolled students who want them. Once you have access you'll find his contact details inside. You won't find a more authentic source.

How do I access the videos?

Immediately after purchase you'll receive a link to access all course videos. You can watch on any device — phone, tablet, or computer — at your own pace, as many times as you like.

Is there support after I finish the course?

Yes. Enrolled students get access to a private Facebook group where Jorge is active. Post photos of your finished pieces, ask technique questions, and get feedback directly from the craftsman who taught you. Jorge has 40 years of knowledge and is genuinely happy to share it.
